The Song of Solomon, also known as the Song of Songs, is one of the only books in the Bible that does not mention God at all.  Over the centuries Jewish and Christian theologians and spiritual writers have understood this extended love poem to be about the relationship between God and the soul, the soul and God's wisdom and Christ and the church.  But it is also a poem of hope and, simply as that, may be an apt text for our time.
